Larry Wells

Larry joined the Army in January 1987. After training, he spent the rest of his enlistment (two years), as an infantry soldier patrolling the East and West German border.

During the years after his enlistment, Larry was married and started a family. As the years went on, Larry found that he was missing the comradery and excitement of Army training. So, in 1998, he joined the Army National Guard as a member of the 168th Infantry Regiment.

The 168 Infantry was ordered to active duty in 2004, and in 2010 the battalion was ordered to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

In 2013, he went back to the “part-time” Army National Guard where he stayed until he retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class in January of 2017.

Larry suffers from PTSD as well as shoulder, elbow, and hand injuries.

The Wells family contacted Purple Heart Homes for assistance, and we provided electrical and plumbing work for Larry’s kitchen.

Welcome to the Purple Heart Homes family, Larry!
